The ultimate goal of the Master's programme is to find solutions where others don’t know where to turn! Leading to a Master of Science degree, the new English-language study programme Safety and Disaster Management provides access to students from all disciplines with an interest in process and plant safety, natural hazards and disaster management. Plain and simple, only when as many professional fields as possible are united in an interdisciplinary nature can safety be viewed systemically and holistically, generating the maximum added value for our society.

Learning crisis management from the bottom up

No one becomes a crisis manager overnight. Rather, the path to becoming one goes hand in hand with a personal development process in the course of which one learns to maintain the ability to reflect in critical situations and thus make adequate decisions. Crisis management not only requires broad knowledge, systematic thinking and the ability to network interdisciplinarily, it also requires a high degree of leadership competence.

New Master's programme to be integrated into existing offer

Montanuniversität Leoben is known for its specialised top education. Together with our cooperation partners Geosphere Austria, Zentrum am Berg and Eureca-Pro, we offer a well-founded and practical education for future decision-makers in the field of disaster and risk management within the scope of our new Master's programme Safety and Disaster Management. An interdisciplinary character is skillfully taught and lived. "Methodological professional know-how from the fields of business is interwoven with technology, humanity and nature to promote the knowledge required for each position and the development of leadership skills," explains Dr. Renate Renner.

With this new degree programme, 13 Bachelor's degree programmes and 25 Master's degree programmes are now being offered in Leoben!
