4. Summer School Doc + 2021

From September 20to 24 the Summer School Doc + has taken place in Vienna for the fourth time.

13 inquisitive participants took part in the Summer School Doc+ at TU Wien. This year's focus was on scientific writing, a basic skill for all scientists. Elisabeth Hambrusch and Eva Müller worked in workshops with the participants on their own texts.

The event started with a city tour through the 1st and 4th district of Vienna with many encouraging stories about Johann Georg Lahner and the physicist Lise Meitner, among others. The following day dealt with the team building. As part of a workshop in the Kurpark Oberlaa, the focus was on effective, cooperative cooperation in the team and on what to look for in cooperation both in theory and in practice.

On the second last day of the event, the young scientists were able to ask all their questions about publishing and reviewing in a fireside chat to the experienced computer science professor Ulrich Schmid from the Faculty of Computer Science. At the end, everyone received a certificate of participation.

The working language of the entire Summer School Doc+ was English. Next year, the Summer School Doc+ will take place at TU Graz, the exciting topic is expected to be project management.

Also this year, the Summer School Doc+ was an instructive experience for the participants. They were enthusiastic about the team building workshop and the feedback from the Summer School Doc+ teachers. There was also great joy that the event took place on site, a welcome change from the many distance learning offers.
